Where the Coffee Money Actually Went

For about two years I kept a budget spreadsheet that I was quietly proud of. Color-coded categories, a savings row, a chart that trended in a direction I liked. It looked like discipline. What it actually was, I realized eventually, was a spreadsheet I'd trained to agree with me — I'd round down the coffees, forget the small subscriptions, file anything embarrassing under 'misc' and stop looking at 'misc'.

SarvTrack came out of getting tired of being lied to by my own handwriting. I wanted something that just pulled in what actually happened and said it back to me without the rounding I'd apply if I were doing it by hand. Not a budgeting philosophy, not a five-tab productivity system — just an honest answer to 'where did it actually go.'

The line I keep coming back to while building it is the one that ended up on the product page almost by accident: Sarv will not lie to you. It sounds like a tagline, but it started as a note to myself about what the tool was for. Every feature decision since has been measured against whether it makes the number more honest or just more comfortable to look at.

It's a small tool. It doesn't need to be more than that. I'd rather it stay small and accurate than grow into something that starts rounding in my favor again.
